Simulator
The term simulator has several meanings in sim racing. Those who speak of a simulator usually mean the entire system that involves the basic frame, the so-called rig, the racing seat, and all the peripherals. Latter includes every input device used such as the steering wheel, the pedals, and other accessories. All of this is joined by a computer or gaming console as well as the connected video and audio output.
However, colloquially the term simulator is often associated with just the rig (usually together with the corresponding seat) which also explains the results of search engines such as Google. Nevertheless, the system is ultimately made up of all the individual components and once again forms the fully functional simulator described above.
All simulators are customizable and individual components are always interchangeable. Freely available simulators on the market usually are not linked to special hardware components and even simulators purchased as Ready to Race (R2R), or Plug & Play, can often be upgraded as desired.
Nevertheless, it should be said at this point that ready-to-run simulator systems, such as those found here in the SimRacing-Store, have been set up ideally by experts to guarantee the best possible driving experience for both beginners and experienced sim racers!
